Unable to view log in page after adding second portlet to page
|

| Hi,

Recently, I tried adding a second portlet to my login page, however, now when I go to the wps/portal url, I am unable to log in. In the top right hand corner I see the 'I forgot my password' link and the '?' link. The entire main page is now blank/white.
Is there any way I can fix this?

Any advice much appreciated as it is rather urgent.

Thanks.

| well you can use the login url
http://server:port/wps/portal/cxml/04_SD9ePM tCP1I800I_KydQvyHFUBADPmuQy?userid=userid&password=password</
a>

to get logged in and then take your portlet off the page, you might want to put it on a page byitself and see if maybe you did not close some tags or something else is preventing it from being visible
| Hi Jim,

Thanks for the reply. I tried putting in the login URL that you provided, however, the same blank screen is rendered with the 'I forgot my password' link. Any other ideas/thoughts?

Thanks,
| This happen to me in the past. I accidently removed the login porlet. I logged in using the method described above and was able to re-add the login portlet.

Here is hte URL that I used...

http://localhost:10038/wps/portal/c...800I_KydQvyHFUB ADPmuQy?userid=<user>&password=<password>

| Hmmm. Still no luck. Is there an alternative way of resolving the issue? Since I added the 2nd portlet to the log in page, is it possible the page itself is corrupted? Is there a way of fixing or resetting the login portlet itself?

Thanks.

|
| the URL we gave you will log you in to any protected Portal page and is not related to the login page.

After you logged in maybe you can fix trhe login page. The URL we gave you should work 1st.

Maybe the Theme is corrupted.

| Thanks. I thought it might be a problem with the theme. I have a separate QA instance of the theme, so would it cause any problems with I do a copy and paste over the problematic dev theme?

| no but if you do not have reloading enabled, you will have to restart the portal
| Still no joy. Is there a way of resetting the login page to it's original state?
| |
| Jim Barnes 2008-01-02, 1:25 pm |
| Well if you have an xmlacess back up you can use that to reset the page.

Or you can export the page, and then remove the portlet, and import it back in and see if that resolves it.

can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing>?
| I have attached a screen shot of the login page. I tried replacing the themes folder, along with restarting the server, to no avail.

How do I export the login page? Does that require logging in to the portal admin?

Thanks again for your assistance.

| well there are a couple of things to try.

This is a 5.1 portal correct?

if so you can enable screen login, and then login that way by going to wps/myportal and it will take you to the login screen
see this for more information
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/inf
ocenter/wpdoc/v510/topic/com.ibm.wp.ent.doc/wpf/sec_subman.html?resultof=%22%6c%6f%67%69%6e%22% 20%22%73%63%72%65%65%6e%22%20#sec_subman
__login_screens

For using xmlaccess you can do the following
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoc...pdoc/v510/topic /com.ibm.wp.ent.doc/wps/admxmlai.html

you can do just a full export, or you can export just that page.
| Post a screenshot of how the portal looks like when you log in using the URL above.

| it seems like that that the URL above is missing a character (there is a space instead of an A after HFUB. Not sure why the paste did not work) and you are not able to login in.

try this URL....

http://localhost:10038/wps/portal/cxml /04_SD9ePMtCP1I800I_KydQvyHFUBADPmuQy?userid=wpsadmin&passwor
d=wpsadmin
