Just for reference, my list is at

I don't install that, I compile my kernel to automatically use it.

It would be nice to have some default servers. Perhaps one of the Debian
machines is an ntp server, and could be the default?

I'd remove telnetd-ssl from David's list. If I use telnet, its to test
things like mail servers, where I'm just connecting to a remote port.
What advantages does telnetd-ssl have over ssh? Plus, it would be
beneficial if telnetd-ssl was used, to have it automatically reject
plain-text sessions.

It has absolutely no advantages over SSH whatsoever. None at all. At
least, none that I'm aware of. That being said, it's always important to
have more than one way to access a remote machine which you can't
physically access without a lot of effort ;)
(And yeah, you can restrict it to SSL connections only, that's what I
set it to.)

I agree it's a bad idea, but the reason Netgear caused such a mess was that
there was a bug in their software that caused their routers to go nuts with
requests.

Try your ISP's nameservers first. They are often timeservers. I'm going
to try to come up with a way to automate this for Chrony.

I'm sure that almost all ISPs have at least one, but I don't trust them to
make it accessible to their customers (and I think you can guess what
answer you will get if you ask "support" about timeservers).

An awesome concept. When I first tried to use ntp, I had a XXXXX of a
time finding servers. Eventually I did find some, and now just ssh to my
server and grab /etc/ntp.conf each time I install a new box. But the
pool is a much better way.

Death to nano! Death to vi! Death to all other editors!

These install CDs are _never_ anywhere at hand.

A nice time-saver.
