Oh, and checking on spamassassin.apache.org:

"Flexible: SpamAssassin encapsulates its logic in a well-designed, abstract
API so it can be integrated anywhere in the email stream. The
Mail::SpamAssassin classes can be used on a wide variety of email systems
including procmail, sendmail, Postfix, qmail, and many others."

Or, http://spamassassin.apache.org/full...mAssassin.html:

"Mail::SpamAssassin is a module to identify spam using several methods [...].
If you wish to use a command-line filter tool, try the spamassassin or the
spamd/spamc tools provided."

This does not look like an internal unsupported interface to me.
