Below is a list of kernel 2.4 source packages < 2.4.25 and packages
(build) depending on them except for non-architecture kernel patches
that will be handled in a separate mail.

older 2.4 kernel:
- kernel-image-2.4.16-lart (#)
- kernel-image-2.4.16-netwinder (#)
- kernel-image-2.4.16-riscpc (#)
- kernel-image-2.4.17-s390 (#)
- kernel-image-2.4.18-i386bf (*)
- kernel-patch-2.4.17-s390 (*)

kernel 2.4.19:
- kernel-image-2.4.19-arm
- kernel-image-2.4.19-s390
- kernel-patch-2.4.19-arm
- kernel-patch-2.4.19-mips
required for several DECstation's
-> linux-kernel-di-mipsel
- kernel-patch-2.4.19-s390
- kernel-source-2.4.19

- kernel-patch-2.4.20-apus
- kernel-patch-2.4.20-hppa
- kernel-patch-2.4.20-m68k
- kernel-source-2.4.20

kernel 2.4.21:
- kernel-image-2.4.21-s390
-> linux-kernel-di
- kernel-patch-2.4.21-hppa
- kernel-patch-2.4.21-s390
- kernel-source-2.4.21

kernel 2.4.22:
- kernel-image-2.4.22-xfs (*)
- kernel-patch-2.4.22-mips
-> linux-kernel-di-mips
- kernel-patch-2.4.22-powerpc

- kernel-image-sparc-2.4
needs to be updated to 2.4.25
-> linux-kernel-di
-> linux-kernel-di-sparc
BTW: why do both build depend on the sparc kernel images
and provide the corresponding di binary packages?
- kernel-patch-2.4.24-m68k
- kernel-source-2.4.24
-> user-mode-linux
build from kernel-source-2.6.4?

Thanks for all your work on this!

Christian T. Steiges said recently (in
http://lists.debian.org/debian-deve...3/msg01511.html)
that it was OK to remove all but the newest 2.4.x packages for m68k, so I
filed a bug to remove them.

Yes please. ;-)

I noticed that my recently uploaded xen packages are missing a depends on
kernel-source-2.4.25, and that you attempted to build them, getting a FTBFS.
This is all fixed now; I'll upload tomorrow.

UML needs a 2.4 kernel presently (I may build from 2.6 in addition, but not
in stead). Usually it lags a bit behind upstream kernel releases; there
will likely be a 2.4.25 patch released at some point. If not, I can
probably build against 2.4.25 with the 2.4.24 patch (though this would cause
some confusion among UML users).

I believe this can go soon in favour of the 2.4.25 one, now in unstable,
but let's wait for that to propagate to testing first.

Because linux-kernel-di and linux-kernel-di-* just take existing
kernel-image packages and split them up into udeb-shaped pieces that d-i
can use as installer components.

Maybe I was a little too quick, I forgot to build kernel-headers for 2.4.25
(doing that now). Also maybe we can wait two more days for the kernel-images
to appear in testing? But other than that, go ahead and remove them, thanks
for filing the bug.

I was more thinking in the direction whether upstream will still support
2.4 in let's say 2.4.40, or whether user-mode-linux might under some
circumstances become unbuildable in Debian 3.1.
