Hi: I thought I'd re-use an old Mac by installing linux
Which I eventually achieved (long story ).
However I don't have 'X' installed , the directory's there /usr/bin/X11
but there's no X file.
So I try to install again these packages but I get all kind of scsi
errors , reading the CD , which is strange coz I used it to do the install.
xinit gives me :No such file or directory ( errno 2): no server "X" in
PATH .
It seems Xfree86 didn't install.
I've tried d'loading the Xfree86 server .deb and burned it to a cd , but
if I try to install from there , it still calls for the powerpc install
disc to unpack the packages , and I get the scsi errors again.
So I'm caught in a loop.
I know this is not very technical , I'm just a newbie user not a techhie.
Has any one had this kind of experience ? And can guide me to install
this Xfree86.
TIA George.L
