After installation of X, XFCE and some other packages I can't use startx
anymore. startx is still in its place in /usr/X11R6/bin and it can be
used from there but then xauth isn't found etc. Is there a path
information missing? How can I correct this again?

I've tried to force reinstall of xbase-clients and x-windows-system but
it didn't help. What shall I try next?

How is it possible that such a problem arises? IMO there seems to be a
rather tricky bug somewhere.

sounds like you need to add /usr/bin/X11/ to your user's path.

xauth is in xbase-clients.

I almost can't believe it but I after I changed the locales from none to
the correct one for my country, startx works again. I hope someone can
shed some light into this.
