this looks a lot like BSD without the adv clause ( "that existing copyright notices
are retained in all copies and that this notice is included verbatim in any distributions"
looks fair to me, as i understand "included verbatim in any distributions" as distributions
of the software not distributions per se.
Not a legal bud, but maybe upstream could be told about the BSD. They may have missed
interesting legal points in this unformal licence and seek the same protection as this licence
provides ...
