For the standard Notes Mail & calendaring  portlet, it is enough to place it
 on a page. When sso is enabled it will automatically pickup the correct mai
l database for the logged in user. And display it using the standard domino 
webmail template.

No idea what you mean with portlets that appear on LCC.
Can you provide me with a link? So i can have a look?
