Hello,
I'm seeing issues with a couple of apps(both 1 to many presentation), when
they have over 12-15+ connections the audio skips out, some times not even
coming back for a long time. The mic object is pretty standard, so I'm
thinking it must be some kind of server setting or maybe I'm missing
smething. I tested turning the live video off to see if this would change it
at all and it did not effect the loss.
Would any one know what could cause this? Is there a way to fix this?
Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Bob

This happens for me when bandwidth usage is beyond the license limit..
you sure you're not exceeding it during these episodes?

Well, they have the unlimited license(not sure what the BW cap for that is
if any) and a 10 mb pipe going out. They also told me that they are no where
near hitting their bandwidth cap with the actual server. So I'm pretty much
at a loss as to why this would happen.

Then I'd say.. either a) the server is being overworked (cpu%), b) their
pipe from that box to the net is congested, or.. b) they are wrong about
some aspect of the FCS license, or don't know the facts about the FCS
instance you are using...
Can you connect to it with the admin api to verify the license? And
connect via the app inspector to see the BW being consumed? .. taking
their "word" on it (that there isn't any limits being hit) is only going
to drive you nuts.
The unlimited IS unlimited in both connections and bandwidth..=20
Is the FCS instance hosting other vhosts? Other apps perhaps chewing up
CPU?
I know of one clients FCS that was on a box last year.. their box also
had a mailserver running.. and the volume of email was enough to spike
the cpu on their machine enough to hinder FCS performance... they had to
move FCS to another machine.
With that said.. what are the specs of this server?

Each client also has a cap. You may not be hitting the cap for the license,
but maybe you're hitting the cap for the client. I think this is configured
in the <Client> tag in Application.xml.

Yes, I know they have one of the apps set to only 1mb, but that was just set
up for testing. I'm sure the other app is set to take up all due to it being
their flag ship application but I will check on that for sure.
Thanks Edward,

You are absolutly right about taking their word for it. At the next stress
test they give I will most deffinately check out the app inspector.
As for their specs, I will have to check on that as well. I'm pretty sure
that all they are running on this box is FCS but, again, I will check it
out. I'll check into the cpu usage as well. I know I'm the only other person
who is running any apps other than the one tested and I hit them from my
local machine only for testing outside the localhost. So no others were
running at the time of the stress test.
As for it being the proper license, they are paying $8k for it. Which I'm
pretty sure is the going price for that. But I haven't looked at those price
list in a while.
Thanks for all the info Jayson, great help as usual. I'll figure out the
answers to these questions as soon as I can.
Thanks!
Bob

I can actually reply here Bob.
1) The license is a 10meg unlimited connection license.
2) There are other virtual servers however, none are really used
except for testing.
3) During our live event, we actually watched the app inspector and
killed all other activity on the system other than the running live
app.
4) System is running Redhat Linux 9
5) 1.5.2 FCS
6) 1.8ghz P4 with 1.5 gb of memory
7) We watched the CPU usage during the event it was at 3-7%
8) We have a max of actually 14 meg on our pipe. Although, our we pay
for 1meg average over the month.
Hope this helps Bob.

Also take Edward's advice and check the default settings for client
bandwidth limits, they are limited unless someone has already changed them.
