I saw this information while trying to solve my own problem today I
have a server at 1and1 and having problems receiving mail. I tried
the above steps from the server and the mail comes through. If I send
e-mail from my computer i eventually get a bounce message saying the
server couldn't be found.

It seems to me that if my mail works and the above steps work then
there is something between our server and the world that is blocking
port 25. In testing I can't follow the above instructions from my
home computer but don't know if it should work or not. Does my
assumption seem correct or am I missing something?

Steve B.

It sounds like your ISP is blocking port 25 to keep you from running a
mail server.

Jeff
