I've updated reporting scripts for spam by source. Now includes both
CIDR and ASN. I'll try to post regularly for monthly spam stats.
This is the *CIDR* report. ASN report posted separately.
These are also available at http://linuxmafia.com/~karsten , including
historical data through January, 2004.
Report truncated to top 200 sources (ties counted) records. LMK if a
full report (488 records) is preferred.
This is informational only. One not-entirely-average Joe's well-known
ISP account. Generate your own stats by converting IP to CIDR / ASN
with DNS query at asn.routeviews.org.
Notable developments:
- As CIDR report makes clear, most KORNET spam (though not nearly all)
is concentrated into a single /12.
- Infoseek is concentrated in a /22 and /24. Actual sources are a
handful or so IPs, possibly primary mail gateways.
- AS4837 (China Telecom) are large in aggregate, but actual CIDRs are
broken out widely.
- Concentration: 1st CIDR > 4%, top 3 > 10%, top 15 > 25%, top 80 >
50%, of all spam received.
