Hi,

Are there any known issues with running MCMS 2001 and MCMS 2002 on the same
server?

Regards,
John

Hi John,

Why do you want to run MCMS 2001 and 2002 on the same box?

Could you not run MCMS 2002 with ASP & ASP.NET templates enabled.

Regards

Hi Angus,

I have to admit that I don't know a lot about neither MCMS 2001 or MCMS 2002
with ASP templates. This situation is that an existing solution exists based
on MCMS 2001. Now a new solution is planned and this should be based on the
newest version, MCMS 2002.

In order for these solutions to run on the same box I guess I have to
upgrade the MCMS 2001 solution to a MCMS 2002 ASP solution. I assume that,
of course depending on the hardware needed, it would be less expensive to
buy a new box for the new solution than to upgrade the existing solution. Am
I on the wrong track here or..?

Regards,
John

Hi John,

You should be able to just upgrade the existing solution to run on MCMS 2002
(with minimal coding effort; but i but of user education effort).

Regards

Oops I got tongue tied.

You should be able to just upgrade the existing solution to run on MCMS 2002
(with minimal coding effort; but with some user education becuase Site
Builder is gone.).

Hi John,

Please don't underestimate the effort involved in doing this. We hired some
consultants (some of the best apparently) for several weeks and they still
failed to upgrade one of our sites. It should be OK if all you want is a
fossilised version of the 2001 site running under 2002, but if you want to
continue developing the site there seems to be no alternative but to rewrite
it all using ASP.NET.

Good point Kevin!

If you are upgrading an MCMS 2001 website to MCMS 2002 it can be done very
quickly using CMS.RAPID (www.cmsrapid.com) - check out their Developer web
cast as they give an overview of how to upgrade existing websites.
