I would suggest three methods:

1. use an "Echolot" pinger to update stats as echolot pingers
are more acccurate.

Here is a good echolot pinger stats page from Bananasplit.info:

2. Use HHTPS via. Stunnel and Tor to update your Stats; this
method uses end-to-end encryption and it anonymizes your stats
updates.

You can use Banana's echolot pinger with Stunnel for (HHTPS/TLS)
end-to-end encryption and Tor for anonymization.

I detail how to do this in my wiki; I detail how to use QS but
I'm sure JBN2 isn't much different:

3. Use Tor Hidden Services (via. Panta) to update your stats;
this will anonymize and encrypt (not end-to-end) your stats
updates.

Personally I would not use any other methods except for numbers
2 and 3.
