I absolutely agree with the second sentiment there. Selsius was painful and
when cisco bought them I had no idea this would fall out of it.
To address the first point, which I suspect that is their goal (to make the
callmanager more of a "linux appliance"), I'm somewhat bummed about that. E
ven under windows, there are so many wonderful things that can be done by ha
ving direct access to the OS, Databases, etc. (Many unsupported, that's a g
iven)
When I first heard that the next CCM would be on Linux, I was fairly excited
to have the wealth of admin tools available to a linux system at my disposa
l for things like reporting and such, but it appears that will likely not be
the case in the end.
Oh well. Their reasons for doing that make sense (support), even if I don't
have to like it.

As someone who has been working with CallManager since cisco acquired it fro
m Selsius, I am amazed at the advances that have been made in less than a de
cade. I look forward to the opportunity to be not so dependent on MS and som
e of their quirky architecture.
My 2 cents worth.
