Using FP2003 on XP Professional, the Server submenu under Tools appears
dimmed. Authoring is set to Complete. The remote server has FP Extensions
installed, I use http to publish my site, and ASP works just fine.
Please help. Without the Server submenu I can not create a subsite and set
access restrictions for it.

Check with your hosting company - not all of them allow you to do this -
they may have to do it for you.

How would FP know that?

FrontPage knows what rights and permissions have been assigned to your
username and password.

You must open the online remote web in FP to see if the server permissions
are available. not the local web.....if the host allows it. Many don't.

Yes, I did open the remote web site in FP, and I also created and tried a
subsite, but the "Server" submenu is always disabled. I called my ISP, they
don't allow server permissions and they can't do it for me. They recommend
Dedicated Hosting. Is this what I really need? There is nothing in the FP
documentation about a requirement to have dedicated hosting. But you said
"Many don't ... allow server permissions". Well, how can I find one that
does? I tried two different ISPs already.
