Hello,

A few files and directories, firewall and mail server config files among
others, have disappeared from /etc. Firstly, they produced I/O error and
then they were removed after running fsck. Anyway, the issue is that I
don't know how many of them have gone, 'cos the database has already
been updated. Is there any way to syncronise /etc so that I know which
files must be restored?

Regards,

Julio

You have a lost and found directory that all of your /etc files were placed
in after the fsck. The inode number will represent the file. You'll need
to figure out which file is which based on inode, and move it back into
place.
