Hello Group

got a problem on a MSCMS 2001 (server/box1) we got aprox 5-8000 users and
1000 authors

Server1: (CPU 1.80 ghz zeon, 1gb. ram)
OS: Microsoft Windows 2000 Sp3

Sometimes server1 is extremly slow for the users and it uses a lots of RAM
and won't "release" the
Ram

In one hour and 17 minutes box it uses 712 mb ram (Dllhost.exe) and this
file only.

upon restart it's "serves" allright again for 2 hours time.

The SCA settings are:
- maximum disk cache 2048
- maximum of 50000 nodes in memory cache (got aprox 20000 postings)
- cookie lifetime are 720

the SQL server are on a differnt Server/box2 (with SP3a)

Does anyone have any ideas to what could be wrong ?

Suggestions for how to "optimize" are more than welcome?

Hi,

your node cache settings are very high.
Please reduce to the recommended maximum of 35000 and test again.

Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Stefan

thx for your reply.

I will set the node cache to 35000 - but should it be in 'global' or 'Use
local override' ?

btw. the dllhost.exe in the task manager reports the following values .:

Pid : 2716
Cpu: 00 - 42
Cpu Time: 2:25:19
Mem usage: 540.944 k
Page faults: 2.690.524
I/O Reads: 894.819

are this normal?

Hi,

depends what is active.
If you have a web farm and would like to ensure that all members use the
same size, then use the global settings.
Otherwise use local override.

What you have posted below are just some statistics. What exactly are you
concerned about?

Cheers,
Stefan

Hi,

page faults are normal! They only indicate that pages have to be loaded from
the pageing file.

Cheers,
Stefan
