Hi all,

I just did a standard install of Ubuntu5.04.  I have a dvd-player
and a cdrw.  I would like to make backups of some of my
sound cd's so my grand daughter will not destroy the ones on
which I spent my hard earned money.  I don't want to make money
pirating I just don't want to have to buy cd's over and over when they
get destroyed.  I have used K3B under KDE on other Linux distros
but gnome doesn't have this program.  Are there any alternative
burning programs for gnome that are easy to install and easy to use?

Perhaps you can install Xcdroast

Sorry for the basic questions but:

Can I get Xcdroast from Synaptic?

Is Universe considered stable?

Is Multiverse considered stable?

Is Xcdroast listed in the standard install of Ubuntu5.04 under Synaptic?

It tends to be much easier to figure out a couple of buttons to click
than to figure out all the command line arguments of cdrecord.

Perhaps, if you're doing something brain-dead simple, ie. "File --> Save".
Once you need it to do something a little more complicated, scanning
the manpage for info on how to do what you want is much quicker than
wading through "Help --> Search".

On Gnome, can you not just type:

burn:///

in the File Browser or from the menu do Go>CD Creator

Then just copy in files you want to burn and click on the disk symbol
"Write to Disc" to burn them.

Check help files for slightly more detailed information.
