I'm experiencing some strange behavior with the BizTalk
Repository.

First, on the mapping side, it only wants to show 2 of
the 4 maps that I've stored there. I was using 'Save'
instead of 'Store to WebDav' because when I stored
directly to WebDav, mapper would crash and only save 2k
of a map. Well, 'Store to WebDav' started working
again. So I went back to that. I'm running on Win2000
SP4 with no programs other than what's needed to run
BizTalk. My maps range in size from 2 to 4 megs.

When I go to 'Retrieve from the WebDav', only half my
maps are listed to choose from. When I go the folder in
Windows Explorer, all 4 are there. I get no errors of
any kind, just half my maps appear missing. If I tell
Mapper to open them through the file system, no
problems. The maps open, are editable and savable. I've
verified everything according to KB article
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=281942 and all things
check out ok. Any ideas on how to make WebDav report the
right number of maps?

My second problem is with the Editor. It will not 'Store
to WebDav' to save its life. It crashes all the time and
leaves only a 2k file behind. 'Retrieve from WebDav'
works fine though. All document specs are shown, none
appear missing, and all successfully load from the
WebDav. My largest spec is 1.94 megs. I'm still
using 'Save' to save the specs to the file system in the
Repository folder. Is there some obscure thing I've
overlooked to cause this to happen?

Any help in resolving these issues would be greatly
appreciated!

Hello Brad,

It sounds like you might not have the correct permissions to access the
BizTalkRepository folder. Both of the problems you saw could be related to
permissions issues.

First try opening the BizTalk Server Repository from IE as a web folder.
To do this, open Internet Explorer, go to File > Open and check the Open as
Web Folder box and type in http://localhost/BizTalkServerRepository. Try
creating a file, modifying, and deleting it and see if you get any errors
that may explain what is going on.

Another thing you could do is use Filemon (download from
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/filemon.shtml). Once you open
Filemon, go to Edit > Filter and Include "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
BizTalk Server\BizTalkServerRepository\*. Then go to mapper and try doing
the Save to WebDav and see if Filemon gives you any Access Denied or
Failure in the Result column.

Hope that helps,

| Update...
|
| I moved all my maps out of the Repository to another
| folder. Opened each one in Mapper and did a 'Save As' to
| the Repository folder. All my maps are visible now. The
| problem with 'Store to WebDav' is now consistent across
| Mapper and Editor. Both crash out when using that
| feature. Anything I can do to eliminate that problem?
|
| TIA
