I'm running Windows ME on a computer that the OS hard drive failed. I do
have a current Norton Ghost 7 disk image on a second hard drive. I have a
few questions about restoring the image to a new drive. I've imaged with
Ghost before but have never restored an image.The image that I have is a
disk image not a partiton image. I'd like to get as much info before I screw
the whole process up.

Is it necessary to format and partition the new drive before restoring the
image?
The image on the second drive is spanned into several 2gb files, how do I
handle this?

I did this just a few months ago. Wanted to upgrade to a larger HDD. Booted
from the Ghost floppy pointed it to the image, and Ghost took care of the
rest. My drive was in four partitions, and it expanded the size of each
partition in the new drive. I did this from an external firewire drive.
Ghost took care of the all the 2GB files automatically.

So I guess what you're saying is that it's not necessary to format or
partition a new drive before ghosting to it?
