Let's assume you have Quicksilver running. Now you want to send
some test posts, or real posts.
Click on the 2nd icon from the left, near the top of the screen.
When you hold the cursor over it, you will see 'templates....'.
When you open it, you will see a short list; click on 'anonymous
followup'.
You will then see a window where you can compose your message.
At the top of the window you will see several lines, looking
something like this:
cc: outbox
Host: my.smtp.com
From: myrealemaiaddress@myisp.com
Chain: *,*,*,*,*;copies=5
To: mail2news@news.gradwell.net,mail2news@dizum.com
From: myfakeemailaddress@fakeisp.com
Subject: My Test Message
Newsgroups: alt.test,misc.test
You won't see these fields filled in as above, but you will
need to fill them in in order to post anonymously. Here are
the fields above with a description of each one.
cc: outbox
* Leave as is
Host: my.smtp.com
* this is your isp's smtp server. You would have filled this
* in to send email messages through your regular email program.
* Yes, you will be sending _email_ in order to post to a news
* group. Don't worry, it's easy.
From: myrealemaiaddress@myisp.com
* this is your real email address at your isp.
* don't worry, it will not show up on any messages
* you send. It's just that your isp needs this
* information to send out your message.
* No, they won't know anything about your message
* since it will be encrypted, and will be going
* to a 'remailer', not to the ultimate destination.
* They won't know a thing about it.
Chain: *,*,*,*,*;copies=5
* each of the asterisks represents a remailer that your
* message will pass through before it finally gets to
* whatever newsgroup you want the message to arrive at.
* Each remailer can tell what remailer the message came
* from, and what remailer it is going to; beyond that,
* the remailer has no idea of where the message is
* going.
* The message is encrypted multiple times, once for each
* remailer, and each remailer can only decrypt the 'layer'
* that is intended for it. All it sees after decrypting
* its layer is another encrypted message, and the
* address of the remailer to send it to.
* with 5 remailers in a chain, it is almost impossible, even
* for the CIA, to figure out where a message came from
* that shows up in a newsgroup.
* the 'copies=5' part means that 5 copies of the message
* are sent through 5 sets or 'chains' of remailers, with
* the last remailer in each chain being the same one.
* The reason for doing this is to help ensure that the
* message gets to the last remailer.
To: mail2news@news.gradwell.net,mail2news@dizum.com
* I mentioned that you are sending an email message
* even though you want it to end up in a newsgroup.
* by including this header, the message, after getting
* to the last remailer in your chain, will be sent to
* these mail-to-news 'gateways'.
* The gateways will send it to a news server, and it
* will then show up in whatever newsgroups you
* designated.
From: myfakeemailaddress@fakeisp.com
* If you want to specify a fake 'from' address on the
* message, put it here. If you don't put anything here,
* the remailer will put some default 'from' address
* on the message.
* Be aware that not every remailer allows a custom 'from'
* header. If you choose, as the last remailer in the chain,
* one that does not allow the custom 'from' header, then
* it will substitute its own default header for yours.
Subject: My Test Message
Newsgroups: alt.test,misc.test
* You can specify up to 5 newsgroups, separated by commas.

That first line should be Fcc: outbox

If you want to use a custom From: header, just specify an exit remailer
that support custom from headers.
Eg: Chain: *,*,*,*,thrasher; copies=5
You can find a list of remailers supporting From: headers at
http://pinger.bananasplit.info/from.html

Once again, this depends on how many groups are allowed by both your
exit remailer and the mail2news server. Last I checked, Italy allowed
only one group, Thrasher was 6, someone was 10, though I think most are
5. Some m2n gateways vary the number of groups you can cross-post to
depending on the group's propensity for abuse.
