Hi,

Which is the best place to keep the word documents/pdf/excel? Is it in
repository or IIS itself. Will there be any performance variation in
retrieving documents from repository against IIS? Which is the best practice
?

Thanks
Rajesh

Hi Rajesh,

it depends on your needs.
On first retrieval it will be slower from repository as it has to be copied
to IIS.
After this it will be served from the MCMS disk cache - so the performance
for any further request is identical to files located in IIS.

The benefit if the item is stored in MCMS is that the permissions are
handled by MCMS and that links to the items are managed - means if you move
the resource all links will automatically be adjusted.
In addition: replacing the item in the repository will automatically be
reflected on all frontend machines.

Cheers,
Stefan
