Apologies in advance if this question has been asked before, but my
search has left me high and dry.

I am attempting to migrate some newsgroups from a Windows 2000 server
running IIS 5 to a Windows 2003 server running IIS 6.

So far, on the new server, I recreated all of the newsgroups. Last
night, I shut off the news servers on both servers, and copied the
contents of each newsgroup directory found in inetpub\nntpfile\root from
the old server to the new server. When everything came up, I found my
newsreader saw all the messages as expired, and would not allow me to
post a new message. At this point, I've reverted back to the Windows
2000 server, but I need to have this service migrated within the next
week as the Windows 2000 server will be disappearing.

My desired result would be that when I do this migration, that there
would be no difference to any of the users that use the server, however,
if necessary, I am willing to give them advance notice that they may
need to reset their newsreaders (we've had to do this before). I do wish
to keep all the posts that are currently there though.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Aaron
