I'm just learing how to burn data dvd's,
and I got the growisofs command to work ok,
but dvdrecord isn't cutting it for me.

Is dvdrecord an ok program? I'd like to learn how
to use it, just to be ambidextrous about it all.
This is RHEL 3 Workstation, so kernel 2.4.21

I'm using an ide burner {aopen duw1608} and ide HD;
DVD+R  {non-reusable, so no formatting needed}  media,
I formulated a 250 meg ISO image file to dump to media
using mkisofs -R  -o   /u/bob.raw    /foodir
Not running X, and top shows never used any swap
all during these test runs; test run with dvdrecord fouls that
media so growisofs cannot use it, but NERO on winbox can
still use it.

I test with    nice -18  growisofs  -Z  /dev/scd0   /u/bob.raw
versus         nice  -18 dvdrecord  dev=0,0   /u/bob.raw
{cdrecord -scanbus  shows my burner on scsi 0,0,0}
but dvdrecord gives Track 01: total bytes <snip> line then
dvdrecord:  Input/Output error.  closetrack/session:
scsi sendcmd: CDB: <snip> Status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION)
Sense Bytes: <snip> Sense key: <snip> Sense code: 0x72
Qual 0x03 (session fixation error -- incomplete track in session)
Fru 0x0 Sense flags: Blk 0 (not valid)
cmd finished after 0.002s timeout 480s
cmd finished after 0.002s timeout 480s

Most people use the dvd+rw-tools package for burning DVD media and it is
part of the RHEL3 release.

http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/

Latest version for RHEL3 is; dvd+rw-tools-5.21.4.10.8-0.EL3.2.i386.rpm
