Hi,
I have a C based server application and java(applet) client. These
Communicates through XML RPC. This runs fine inside the LAN, But
communication fails when client is outside LAN i.e when i tried to
access on internet. socket connections fails to establish.

I think this is because of Network Address Translation (NAT).

looking forward for any related help, links or pointers.

Thanks in advance for reply's

Are you sure that your communication port isn't blocked by someone's
firewall?

Sounds like you need some kind of port-forwarding setup.

Thanks for your reply's

Port forwarding can be done only if we have control over the firwall or
the server but which is not the case when we are on internet. In order
to make independent of firewall config ( so that it can work on most of
the conditions)is there anything i can do?

one thing i can think of is JXTA implementation
http://www.jxta.org/
but again this demands huge changes

any other approches that i can look for?

Thanks
