Hello,

I am thinking switching an application from BSD sockets to Unix sockets beca
use of their ability to authenticate (see SCM_CREDENTIALS) the user/process
at the other end.

The VERSION section of the man 7 unix page on Linux is a bit worrysome - it
mentions portability problems. If anyone has insights and examples I would a
ppreciate, as I have zero experience with.

Regards.

FYI, There is a feature similar to this available
in Solaris Express http://wwws.sun.com/software/solaris/solaris-express/
(As documented in socket.h(3HEAD) and getpeerucred(3C); unfortunately,
at this time the only way to read the documentation is to
download the the whole SOlaris Express release)

BSD sockets is interface, Unix sockets is namespace.
You can't switch from first one to second one.

As BSD successor it has this feature by definition. Seek again.
