Nym creation with Panta - a one way street? |
 |
 |
|
|
11-09-05 10:47 PM
I don't know why I NEVER receive a reply from Panta when I
create a nym, in order to confirm the nym creation. The nym *is*
created by Panta, but I get no reply from Panta in order to
activate it.
This is most frustrating. I don't think that the fact that I use
GnuPG to create the nym could possibly cause a problem with the
reply message from Panta, but there it is.

You should get a reply.
Re-send your reply block to "save AT nym.panta-rhei.eu.org"
This will save your message locally, and then I can feed it through the
script manually and see if it generates output.

We will see once your message has arrived.
You can email me for more private conversation.

Let me clarify this a bit more:
Please create your config message in the normal way, but then send it to
save@... instead of config@....

Thank you for the reply. I have re-sent the configuration
message to the above address and I'll look forward to your reply.
Following my previous message, I should add this comment: I sent
an anonymous message to me using the same remailers as the reply
block, but I didn't receive a reply. There are two
possibilities. Either one of the remailers has a problem or the
administrator of the final destination email address blocks or
rejects emails from anonymous remailers.
If it's the latter case, can you suggest a reliable final
destination email address to use, for example if a webmail
address, then which one could I reliably use?

Hi !

I have received your message and fed it through the nymserver script
producing the following observations:
On the first attempt it was rejected because it was detected as a replayed
message, i.e. it had already been processed before.
After temporarily disabling the replay cache it was properly processed, and
produced an output file which would have been remailed to an italian
remailer.
So it seems your problem is in the reply block.

Correct.
Most probably its one of the remailers in your chain.
Check in the chain stats that all hops from one to the next remailer are
working.
Then check that all remailers in your chain are currently alive.
Use multiple different reply blocks. I usually use three.
Send a simple single hop cpunk message through the last hop to your final
email address so you know your pop box accepts mail from that remailer.

If you have news access inject it into aam via panta or any other news
route.
If you want to use email, just open a gmail or yahoo account.
You will need pop3 access so check if they allow that first, I think
hotmail does not do pop3.
Hope you get it working,
Cheers,

Thank you for all the advice. I shall do the tests that you
suggest. Can I continue trying to activate the reply block for
the specific nym, or is it too late now to set up a working
reply block for it?
Secondly, could you guide me, if you know how, to set up more
than one reply block using Quicksilver?

Just skip a line and add the second right under the first, etc, etc.

Just send a new config message with new reply blocks. The one that you
confirm via the reply which you should get will be the activated one.

Sorry, never used it. I am a JBN person.
I am sure someone else will jump in here.

I used to use JBN with PGP 6.5.8ckt. Could you tell me if it's
possible to use JBN with GnuPG? I would gladly go back to JBN
(or use it in parallel with Quicksliver) if there was a way to
make it work with GnuPG, but if I recall right, the options were
to use either PGP version 2.6.3 or 6.x.

Thank you. I didn't know I could do that.
