I think weve broken CS in some way, as we can not deploy a new site without
errors.

In the pup.txt log file we get :

Time=Friday, November 08, 2005 10:14:31 Site=DWTest	 Resource=dwtestbizdesk
Function=(null)
Failed to call method Run on Commerce.SyncAdminInterface.[10:14:31] Erro

importing object data for DWBizDesk from file C:\Documents and
Settings\admin\Local Settings\Temp\1\DWBizDesk 80004005:Method '~' of object

sk:
cscript.exe "D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\dwtestbizdesk\unpack.vbs" /n:"DWTest"
/r:"dwtestbizdesk" /i:1 /v:"dwtestbizdesk"
/d:"D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\dwtestbizdesk"
Begin: unpack.vbs

Then we get :

"Error in Commerce Administration Object : Description -
'GlobalConfig2:Initialize : Argument passed to the Data Shaping Service was
invalid.' "

error in event viewer, when we try to do anything in the console. If we
delete all traces of the site we just tried to deploy the console functions
again.

Any Help greatly appreciated

Darren

We did a bit more testing, If we deleted the site that we just deployed and
any other at random, then deploy it again, it works with no problems, then i
f
we do another deploy, we get the above error again. So it's almost like we
have hit the limit of sites we can have.

We have the Ent Edition, and have 25 sites under the Commerce Server
Manager\ Commerce Sites folder. Is there a limit of 25 for this version?

Regards,

Darren

Hi Darren,

Commerce Server 2002 has a 10-site limit. Indeed, I believe you are
bumping up against issues because you have surpassed this limit. If you
have Enterprise Edition, you can consider adding more applications per/site
to scale up more within a CS deployment.

This is well documented in KB888655 which was updated late last year to
clarify some ambiguous language in the product docs around this.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888655/en-us

Note that this limitation is being relaxed in CS2006 - we are hoping to
support 1000 deployed sites (with 100 actively loaded and running at a
given time).

David,

The docs in CS2006 Beta 1 reflect that the 10-site limit is only being lifte
d
on the Enterprise Edition. Any plans to lift that on the Standard Edition
as well?

Thanks,
Colin

Please see:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...-us/CS06Getting
Started/html/0eeab295-52c1-4f99-9aec-bb02a40b2280.asp
"Scaling Differences Between Editions" in the CS2006 online documentation
(recently published).

The short answer is that Standard Edition retains the 10 site limitation.
(sorry for the long delay in reply)

Thanks
