hi there

I have configured a server for our DMZ and I am trying to install FPSE 2002
on II6 running on Windows 2003 SP1.  I have followed the documents on this
newsgroup about making changes to the registry and none of them have worked.

When I try to add the extensions via the IIS snap in ( FP extensions are
allowed ), I am prompted for username/password, then I click submit to exten
d
the default site and then web page just sits there displaying "Please wait..
."

I have rebooted several times and this hasn't made a difference.  Is it
worth removing SP1 ( not sure whether I will have to rebuild the server? ) o
r
does anyone know of a work around.

You should have installed the FP2002 extensions when you installed IIS6, pri
or to install SP1.

uninstall sp1
configure Frontpage extensions
re-apply sp1

Remove IIS and the extensions, then reinstall IIS and the extensions, then c
onfigure the extensions
for the default web site via IIS MMC.

hi there

problems are now worse.

I have removed and reinstalled IIS.  Extensions were enabled for the Default
web site but not for Sharepoint ( not sure if I need that ), after the insta
ll

I am now unable to login to the FPSE, I keep getting the http 401.1 error
message, I have already added the lsa registry entries...

any more thoughts?

When you install IIS6 w/FPSE, there are no registry entries that you need to
 manually make.
SharePoint and the FP Extensions are one and the same by default, unless you
  download and install
Windows SharePoint Service (WSS).

Did you uninstall SP1 first before removing IIS?

just removed IIS...

so what I needed to do was remove IIS, remove sp1, reinstall IIS, reinstall
SP1

I have removed SP1, IIS , installed IIS, moved IIS to the D:\ and I am still
getting the 401.1 error messages.  I haven't put SP1 back on yet, but I don'
t
think that will sort this out.  Do you think I am better formatting this and
trying to install the FPSE 2000?

any further suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't move IIS to D:, leave on C: then create a folder to hold your webs on 
D, and under IIS point
to the folder on D:

You can only install the FP extensions that came on the Windows 2003 CD, you
 can not use any other
version or updates currently available.

hi there

sorry for the delay, been away.

I have put the default site back to C:\ but i am still unable to do anything
in FPSE.  For FPSE to work does the server need to be on a domain?.  The onl
y
other thing that I have done... ( now he tells us ) is apply the High
Security Member server baseline and the High Security IIS inf files.  Do you
think that might be the problem?
