I am trying to connect to an FTP site on a Windows XP machine and
started to encounter an error that said that connection was closed by
the remote host. I then turned off the local the firewall, and it now
comes up with the error ftp: connect: unknown error number.

I have tried different ftp sites, and can get it to work on a different
machine, but cannot see what the issue is at the moment.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A bit more information - if I try to connect to the ftp site via a web
browser, it starts asking for login credentials for the ISA server. I
have tried all the accounts that I know and added all the security
groups that I can find, but it still won't give me access. Where on
the ISA server can I see what permissions are required (I can remote
access on to the server)?????

that seems to be to show how to let external computers access FTP on my
ISA server.

I want to be able to access an external FTP, but when I try it won't
let me connect to my ISA server (it seems to need to go through there
to get to the external FTP)

I hope that makes some sense.

So you saying internally - you are trying to ftp using the external host or
ip, but you can't ?

In this case, how about ftp to the internal IP address?
