Trying to password a directory hosted on a server other than a windows
server. They tell me will need to enter a user and password moving from pag
e
to page. Would changeing to a windows server give me more options?

If your host supports FrontPage extensions and subwebs with unique
permissions, see:

On a Windows server, there is also an ASP solution:
Protect individual pages:

Unix servers can use php or PERL with mysql variations on the ASP
solution.
You could also use .htaccess (often set up in the hosting Control
Panel) to protect a folder.
