We are unable to install a standalone version of site manager since we have
upgraded to sp2. It tells us it can't find Content Management Server. Do w
e
have to install a full version of cms on their machine? Without an msdn
license does this violate licensing? Anyone else run into this, or a fix for
this?
We have several users who manage channels and permissions that are not
necassarily developers.

Thanks,

I would like to clarify this message in hope of getting a response. We had
CMS 2002 and sp1 installed and the stand alone site manager installation
worked fine. Since we have upgraded to sp2 (sp1a, then sp2) the stand alone
installation gives us this error when attempting to login:

Error: 			0
Description: (0x80020009) Extended error: [What='The client is unable
to
connect to the server because the client's version is incompatible with the
server's version. Please make sure your client is connecting to a server wit
h
a compatible version.'] [LCID='1033'] [SourceFile='aestub.cpp']
[SourceFileLine='605'] [DebugInfo='The client Version 5.0 (build 5.0
.1924.0)
currently is not compatible with the server Version 5.0 (build 5.0.5054.0)']
[RecommendedAction='Please make sure your client is connecting to a serv
er
with a compatible version.'] [ExtraInfo='No further information is
available'] [UniqueErrorId='20076'] [Severity='5']
[Source='AEStubObject.dll'] [CategoryId='0']
Severity: 			5
Source: 			AEStubObject.dll
Debug info:		N/A
Extra info:			N/A
Client Source: 		Login::ctlLogin_Click
Recommended Action: 	N/A

Is it really a version issue? Is there a way to upgrade there site manager
without installing the full version of cms on their local machine? Is there
a
workaround?

Thanks for your help,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

Site Manager needs to be of the same version as the MCMS server machine.
The version number below looks like the version number of Site Manager
refresh.
This version is incompatible with MCMS 2002 SP1a or SP2.

Please uninstall this version of Site Manager and install the correct
version using the following steps:

1) install Site Manager MCMS 2002 RTM using the step outlined here:
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...dme_update_zwsz

2) install MCMS 2002 SP1a

3) install MCMS 2002 SP2

Cheers,
Stefan
