Hi,

I want to develop for Flash 6 or 7 players, using Flash Media Server.
Though this list is called FlashComm, I didn't see another for Flash
Media Server so I'm guessing I'm asking the right people.

I've just subscribed to the list, and would appreciate information
about what developers are using these days for best compression of
video files. I have an older version of Sorenson Squeeze.

I also have an mp3 I'd like to compress and Sorenson doesn't seem to
work with mp3s. Any ideas?

A related question:
The video size I normally use is 320x240. Does anyone have experience
with larger sizes, and would you recommend considering this?

Thank you!
Marilyn McLeod

The On2 codec seems to be the best way to compress video now, it is
available as a plugin for the current Sorenson Squeeze. The current
Sorenson Squeeze also handles MP3s, although I prefer Audacity (which
can be downloaded from SourceForge) or best yet dbPowerAmp converter
(http://www.dbpoweramp.com).

Mike,

I have a slightly over version of Sor Squeeze, and what can be done
w/ Squeeze that cannot be done w/ F8 as far as A6 format is concerned?

Thanks,
Bill

Squeeze can do batch processing, which is handy if you need to encode
multiple files to multiple bandwidths. I haven't tried Flash 8's encoder
yet, so I can't really say.
