Hi ,

I am running IIS 5.0 on Windows 2000 server. I am able to access the
website loaded on it by typing "http://localhost" in my browser ( on
the same server ) but when i type the ip address
"http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" ( again on the same server )i am not able to
connect to the web site .

The server is on static ip and the DNS is provided by the ISP.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards

Satyen

What message do you get? What happens when you ping that IP?

Hi,

Try binding the the website in question to the specific IP address of the
web server in IIS manager, instead of "Unassigned"....

Does "Not able to connect" mean that when you try you are immediately
shoved backwards by an invisible force and prevented from hitting the
ENTER key? Just checking, since you don't mention error messages you
might be seeing, if any...

Which would help by name, not by IP.

Yes. it would. So help us by posting error messages. Then go into IE
and add the IP to your intranet zone in your security, and also try:

Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings ->
Uncheck everything.
