Error Message: FrontPage Run-Time Component Page |
 |
 |
|
|
01-14-06 02:59 AM
I am running IIS 5 on local Windows XP machine with FrontPage Extensions
2002. Everytime I try to run a form page, I get a "run-time component" erro
r
that says "This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you
publish this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server Extensions
installed." I have triple checked and my local machine is running FP
extensions. I have even uninstalled them and reinstalled them but I get the
same error. I used FrontPage 2002 to create a form page from a Page
Template, published it to the local "server", and still get the error
message.
Any help in fixing this would be greatly appreciated, as I am trying to get
this form to work, so I can post it to a "live" web server. Thank you in
advance for any help.

Is this form going to be sending form information to email?

The form is writing to a text file and then going to a confirmation page.

I did as you suggested, and didn't have any errors listed. I got a message
that I needed to contact the administrator to make certain FrontPage
extensions were installed. Since I am the administrator, and I installed
FPSE with Windows XP SP2, I thought everything was good to go in regards to
the FPSE. The whole FPSE and getting FrontPage 2002 to work together on any
web server (localhost or otherwise) is getting to be too much hassle. I am
running out of options. Any additional help would be appreciated.

Dan,
Did you use the built in "Publish Web" option or just create the form on the
page.

I used one of the wizards to create the form, then used "Publish Web" to
publish the web page to my localhost server.

Have you tried open the site at http://localhost directly in FP and then cre
ating the form?
Locally the form may not work, if you include an email address, so test by h
aving the form write to
a file.
