We had WSUS runing on a Microsoft Server 2003 (beside Trendmicros Viruswall
and BackupExec 10.0 from Veritas/Symantec).
After applying the Server 20003 SP1 the WSUS Service is unavailable (when I
try to open the WSUSAdmin Homepage).
The System Event shows 4 Warnings (ID: 1009, Source: W3SVC, A process
serving application pool 'WsusPool' terminated unexpectedly. The process id
was '5864'. The process exit code was '0xffffffff'.)
and finally one Error (ID: 1002, Source: W3SVC, Application pool 'WsusPool'
is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the
process(es) serving that application pool.)
I totally reinstalled WSUS but with no success.
Only changing the Application Pools\WSuspool Identity from "Network Service"
to "Local System" fixes the problem. But this should be only a temporary
workarround.
Does anybody know, whats going on here?
