Hi,

I have Windows XP and I am trying to install VS .NET 2003 which requires
configuration of Frontpage Server Extensions. When I try to do so, it gives
"Error 5 Opening registry key "SOFTWARE\Classes\.AAC" error. Can some one
please help me to configure server extensions

Thanks...

Did you ensure that IIS is installed and that the FP Server Extensions were
installed with IIS (by selecting the FP Server Extensions under the IIS node
in the Add/Remove Windows Components)? VS.Net does not install the 2002
server extensions, but instead the 2000 server extensions by default I
believe.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for your reply. Actually I do have IIS installed in my machine with
Front Page Server Extensions. When I did the following,

IIS-->Default Web Site-->All Tasks-->Configure Server Extensions, as soon as
I cliked Finish in that wizard I got the error message "Error 5 Opening
registry key "SOFTWARE\Classes\.AAC". Can you help me?

I've got the identical problem, FP has been working for nearly a year
and suddenly crapped out with the same error message. IIS and
exentensions have been uninstalled and reinstalled at least a dozen
times trying to get to the root of the problem all to no avail. The FP
config wizard makes it most of the way through then craps out with the
error code. Webs contine to work, but access via frontpage, and/or
editing content via frontpage results in a no extensions installed
error
