I am trying to use SIAPI to build a custom search portlet.

I am follwing the code from the sample SIAPI portlet. I can get a
'com.ibm.siapi.search.SearchService' object but I am unable to get any
'com.ibm.siapi.search.Searchable' objects.

I have set up two search collections in the portal search administration. I 
can
search these from the search portlet supplied with the portal.

Would any one have an idea what might be wrong?

How do you get a 'collectionID' for a search collection created in the porta
l administration.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have the SearchService object than you should be able to get a Search
able object by using:
Searchable searchable = searchService.getSearchable(null, "C://your-collecti
ons-directory//your-collection");
