My company has an Overland Storage LoaderXpress DTL-LXLS tape library.
Specifically, it is an LXL4110. the "Drive Fault" light is on, and
when I go into the Status Menu, then DLT 1 menu, every item displays
"status in flux".
I have visited the Overland website, and searched their knowledgebase.
the only thing I can find regarding that issue is to check for a jammed
cartridge stuck in the tape drive, then call tech support.
I called tech support for Overland, and they don't even seem to be able
to find documentation on such a model existing. I have searched their
website, and they have no notes at all regarding an LXL4110.
I have a call in to a local shop that supports Overland drives, and he
did not seem to know what kind of drive goes in this library. I'm
getting nervous about the possibility of finding someone who can fix
this library, and I cannot run my backups in the meantime.
Also, this drive uses DLT IV tapes, and records around 40 gig
compressed. If I get another tape drive, what do I look for in a drive
that I know can use these tapes, and read tapes we have archived using
the LXL4110?

Any help is greatly appreciated...
Brad Holman

Never mind, found my problem.
There WAS a tape stuck in the drive. In fact, the tape had broken, and
was wound around the internal spool in the drive. I removed the drive
from the library chassis, removed the clear plastic cover from the
spool, and unwound the broken tape. We then reset the leader on the
plastic arm and put everything back together, and it seems to work
now...
