I am done installing CS2006 and as I tried to open the Catalog Manager from
Commerce Server Menu using Start=>Program Files==>CS 2006==>Catalog Manager
then I received this error message:

"The Catalog Web Service is unavailable. The Web Service may be
experiencing technical difficulties or you may be to adjust your connection
string"

But if run this web service from the browser by using this URL then it works
.
http://youservername/CatalogWebServ...WebService.asmx

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks.

Hey Andy,

A few things to check:

* Have you setup the application pool and it's corresponding identity for
the web service?
* Does that identity belong to the local IIS_WPG group?
* Does the identity have Write access to the CatalogAuthorizationStore.xml
file in the web service directory?
* Does that identity have rights to the SQL Server databases required by
the Catalog Manager?
* Are there any entries in the event log?

Cheers,
Colin

Please check the event log on the client from where you are running the
catalog manager. That should give a much more detailed exception message of
the problem.
