Hi, I want to thank Brian Lesser for his interesting and informative
reply regarding AS3 and Flash 8.5. What I'm wondering is is
Macromedia/Adobe going to release another version of Flash to go
along with it? And does that mean that all AS1 and AS2 will no
longer be compatible with the Flash 8.5? Or that FMS 2 coding will
no longer work with a new version of AS? That would seem somewhat
suicidal from a business standpoint, so I would assume probably
not. But regarding Flex, with the price tag being so high, it seems
that it wouldn't attract that much attention because its so out of
the price range of the typical developer. I've seen what it can do
and it's definitely an impressive product, which has the potential to
help many millions of people do business, but unfortunately with the
license being priced at what it is, it's out of reach of most. Flash
is so popular I think in part because it's affordable. Same with
Dreamweaver. With the ubiquity of the flash player, FMS2 can be a
hugely, massively successful product if only it were a little less
expensive. I wonder if Adobe would consider lifting the heavy price
tag on it to make it more accessible to the vast majority of
developers out there who are potential users of this product. Look
at what Google did. Anyway, that's my two cents, don't mean to preach.
