In trying to reinstall BizTalk I run into a problem where
Configframework.exe will not run. I get no error either displayed or in
the Event Log. No log file gets created. I've reinstalled pretty much
everything. Anybody had this problem or have any ideas?

So what happens when you try to run it from command line? Does it hang?

I also have the same problem. Here is my scenario.

1. I have Windows XP with SP2 installed on my laptop.
2. I have VS.net 2003 installed and been using it for about 6 months.
3. I installed BizTalk 2004 (with SP1) about 1 month ago.
4. I recently installed the VS.Net 2005 on the same machine and everything
was good.
5. I started to create some simple BizTalk orchestration just to learn how
BizTalk works but for some reason I could not open the BizTalk mapper it jus
t
keeps complaining the .btm file's format is wrong or is modified outside of
the BizTalk but the file is just empty .btm file.
6. I thought something wrong with my BizTalk installation so I decided to
uninstall and reinstall the BizTalk.
7. When I uninstall the BizTalk I also deleted the BizTalk related database
in the SQL Server 2000.
8. After reinstallation of BizTalk was done, when I tried to run
ConfigFramework.exe nothing happened and no error message displayed.
9. I then went to command line window and ran it from there but the command
prompt returned right away and nothing happened.
10. If I run "configframework /?" at the command prompt, a dialog will pop
up and show "/s - silent install, /l - specify log file path, /u -
unconfigure all features.

I also have BizTalk 2004 installed on Windows server 2003 with only VS.Net
2003 on the machine and it works fine.

Can you think of any reason why ConfigFramework.exe can not run after the
reinstallation of the BizTalk? Will it cause BizTalk 2004 any problem when
both VS.Net 2003 and 2005 co-exist on the same machine?

Thanks for the help.

#5. Are you using VS 2003? You can't use VS 2005 with BTS 2004. Did you try
to create a new file?
#8. DId you have COnfig log file created? Delete all the files from your
%temp% directory and re-run config. There will be a file called
config<timestamp>.log created there.

Unless you got some serious issues in the setup you should be able to run
BTS in 2003/2005 environment - it is completely supported *assuming* that
you did not install pre-RTM versions of .NET on the box. If you did all
bets are off.

Do you have a log file created in the %temp% directory? It should be called
config<timestamp>.log

Cool!
After I deleted all the config<timestamp>.log from the %temp% directory, I
can run the Configframework.exe and reconfigure the BizTalk2004 and
everything seems to be working now.

Thanks a lot.
