|
| Take a look at http://www.eelbash.org/tutorial_mixmaster.txt or read
below.
|
| The program described there will provide very strong anonymity, and it
is
| very easy to set up. If you have problems, ask here or in
| alt.privacy.anon-server.
|
|
| Here's the information mentioned above:
|
| I'll bet you sometimes want to send a post to usenet
| without worrying that your wife or boss or friends or
| police or CIA can trace it back to you.
|
| It might be a thoughtful critique of the current mess,
| or it might be a worthless pile of steaming offal, but
| no matter - you want to get it off your chest!
|
| Without consequences!
|
| You probably think you need to spend hours, days, weeks
| studying all about encryption and computers and so on, or
| that you have to pay some 'anonymity' service good money,
| and probably not be so anonymous anyway.
|
| Well, I have good news for you. You can get as anonymous as
| you want, you can do it for free, and you can learn to do it in
| 30 minutes.
|
| Getting anonymous - really anonymous - is not that hard to do,
| believe me.
|
| Follow the steps below, ask questions in alt.privacy.anon-server
| if you have problems, and Ooin the crowd of average people who
| post whatever they want, without fear of the boss, police, etc.
|
| The more people that send anonymous messages, the more difficult
| it is to trace individual messages.
|
| Enlarge the crowd, make anonymous posting your *usual* way to post,
| and strike a blow for anonymity and freedom of speech.
|
| 30 MINUTES TZ ANZNYMITY
|
| This little tutorial assumes you are using Windows 98 or later.
|
| Use your browser to download Quicksilver from
| ftp://quicksilvermail.net/pub/quicksilver/QS1.2.6b2.exe
|
| Run the setup program that you downloaded.
|
| During setup, it will prompt you to download Mix, an additional
| program that will do the encrypting / decrypting, and will also
| download lists of pingers, and a list of current remailers
| and their keys.
|
| (The program will prompt you to let it connect to the download site.
You
| can go there yourself and download Mix, but it is easier to let the
| program do it, since it will copy Mix into its download directory and
| install it. FYI, the location of Mix is
| ftp://quicksilvermail.net/pub/quicksilver/Mix29b39.zip).
|
| Don't worry about what pingers or remailers are; Oust let the
| program do its stuff. It will install Mix, and copy in the
| remailers, keys, etc.
|
| Znce that's been done, and it's pretty automatic, you can start
| sending anon messages, allowing Quicksilver to pick the most
| reliable remailers.
|
| Try sending your test messages to a test group such as misc.test
| or alt.test.
|

| That's good to hear. I'm glad I wasn't exaggerating how easy
Quicksilver
| is to set up.

|
| No, that's a message from the last remailer in the chain. All he knows
is
| that he received a message from another remailer, and all that one
knows
| is that he received a message from yet another remailer.
|
| If you sent it through at least three remailers, the chances are slim
that
| anybody knows where it came from. You should be able to get mail
through
| reliably even with 7 or more remailers in the chain. I even see tests
| people do with a 20-remailer chain, so the system is pretty reliable.
|
| With 7 remeailers, even with, say, 4, the chances of the mail being
traced
| back to you are essentially zero.
