Eliminating the X-No-Archive header resulted in a perfect
post/reply with 1.0.9.5.
I should mention that I had the X-No-Archive header
permanently clicked using the Special/Custom headers:
*X-No-Archive: yes
I had other special headers, but clicked them off
in the custom tab for posting.
This is being posted via a new installation of XNews
using News2Remail 1.0.9.5 and mix29b39 (I have no
custom headers, and no X-No-Archive set).
Incidentally, what was the purpose of running News2Remail -S ?

I think if you try 1.0.9.6 with x-no-archive or custom headers it will
be fine.

It was an attempt to process the mix pool using the mixpath env var that
news2remail uses and not the one in the registry.

I didn't try it, but should I, or does it not work?

To be honest, I don't know if it will work for you, but it should.
Basically all it does is run mix -S from within news2remail. By doing
that it should ignore the reg entry mixpath and use the one you entered
in the config (ie. instead of mix-S sending the message to QS dir
because the mixpath in the registry points there, sending it SMTP as per
the news2remail mix path and config, all without juggling .reg imports).
I see from the other posts that 1.0.9.6 seems to be working fine for you
now in terms of headers, etc.

All it does for me is return "Notice: Checking for old parts." and
returs to the DOS prompt.

That means it ran, is your spool dir empty now?

It was empty when I ran it. I was expecting it to run News2Remail as
per normal and then run mix -S from within News2Remail when a message
was posted. No worries, I just misunderstood what you meant, which I
gather is that it is the same as running mix -S if the MixDir entry
points to the MixDir required for News2Remail.

I'm using 1.0.9.7 and it's working perfectly.
I'm still not sure what to do about news2remail -S. Is this
something I run while News2remail is already running?
And it's equivalent to Mix -S?

Is News2Remail -S to be run while News2Remail is already running?
And that sends the mail?

That is the way it was set up, yes. It's just a quick hack for now
though, eventually I'll work something better out, most likely by giving
n2r SMTP abilities. Richard even offered to write a SMTP executable for
it, but he's already done enough, I'll probably code it right into n2r
eventually. Right now I'm just bug fixing, I have too much on my plate
for this to become a full blown development project and the gui version
and new features will have to wait until I have free time again to play
around with code.
