I actually contacted members of the portal development team regarding this, 
and they told me that it would be supported in WebSphere Portal Server 6.0. 
 In the meantime, you can work around it by setting a request attribute in t
he getTitle() method.  You
can then extend their skin to read the attribute from the request and render
 the intended title appropriately.
