Hi,
I currently have ENTSSO clustered on a 2 node MSCS with
Windows 2003 ENT SP1.  Also clustered are SQL server 2K, MSDTC, and Analysis
Server.  My hardware is currently two Dell
PE 6650's connected to an EMC CX300.  My upgrade will be to swap out the PE
6650's for PE 6850's with Windows 2003 ENT x64 edition.  My plan is to:
1.  Failover to one node.
2.  Evict the other node from the cluster.
3.  Add the new 6850 as the new second cluster node.
4.  Install ENTSSO on the new node and Failover to it.
5.  Evict the last 6650.
6.  Add the second new 6850 to the cluster.

Are there any gotcha's I need to be aware of?  Any incompatibilities or
special circumstances with the 64 bit OS?  Any known hotfixes I need to have
ready to go?

I am using BTS 2004 ENT and BTA4H3.

Hi John,

BizTalk 2004 is not supported on a 64 bit machine (and that includes SSO).
If you want to have your SQL cluster on 64 bit machines, that's fine but
you will then have to move the SSO cluster onto separate 32-bit machines.

Also as I know, a hotfix is required to run Biztalk 2004 against 64-bit
SQL(SP1 is a pre-requirement):

Thank you for this very important info.  To clarify, I am installing x64
Windows, not Windows for Itanium.  Does my issue still exist?  If so, can yo
u
help me with two issues arising from this:

1.  Any advice on how to move from clustered SSO to local SSO on the BizTalk
box itself?
2.  Will clustering SSO on x64 Windows be available with BTS2006?

I appreciate your rapid response as we may need to do something different
with our proposed OS.

One more clarification...
The version of SQL server I will be using is still the standard 32 bit
version.  The only 64 bit part of things will be the OS, which will be the
x64 version and not the Itanium version.  Does the problem with SSO still
apply here?  I assume the hotfix would not be needed, as it is for SQL 2000
64 bit?  Can you also point me to the documentation that describes the
incompatiblity of clustered ENTSSO on Win2003 x64 with SQL Server 2000 32 Bi
t
edition?  Thanks.

As I know, there will not be any difference between connecting to 32-bit
SQL 2000 on 64 bit Windows and 32 bit SQL on 32 bit OS.
