[slrn] running mixmaster (external command) on current article |
 |
 |
|
|
03-25-06 02:53 PM
I want to define a macro that will save the current article as a temp
file and run an external command on it (mixmaster, which has a curses
interface), then drop back to slrn when that finishes.
Any suggestions?

It has support for sending articles via external programs already built
in. No need for macros. In the config file:
set inews_program "mix --to=mail2news@dizum.com --chain=*,*,*"
set post_object "inews"
Every time you send an article, it would run that command piping the
article to it, then drop back to slrn when it finishes. The article
would only get sent to that program and not via NNTP, which seems like
it is exactly what you want.

So who is it this person thinks they are hiding from?
Law enforcement or any other branch of the government? Nope.
They'd be knocking on his door an hour after they made the
decision to bust him.
Big corporation? Nope. Take them a 1/2 hour longer.
Someone with money and connections? Add another 1/2 hour.
The fact is, that no one is looking for him that can do anything
but post schitt on the Usenet, just like him.
He could include his real name, address, and image with every
post and be perfectly safe.
What he is really hiding from is his own posting history, which
is composed of endless stupid and offensive articles under
numerous aliases that have been killfiled by thousands of people.
But you don't even need to know that. All you have to see is
the fact that he is using an "anonymous" remailer to know that
he doesn't have anything to say worth reading.
I see a length of 0 lines reported in my newsreader's menu, and
I generally delete the post without even looking at the headers.
"George Orwell"? Hardly. Try "Elmer Fudd".
Hate to tell you this, Junior, but I don't care who you really
are or where you live. If you sent me your address I'd delete
it.
I've already _seen_ a fat slob sitting in front of a computer
in a pigsty being bitched at by his mommy for tying up her
computer all the time.
Seen one, seen them all. Don't know schitt and aren't a threat
to anyone.
Dickless snots.

I suggest you continue with this practise. Why waste your valuable time
on reading posts you know to be worthless? Better still, configure slrn
to delete all anonymous posts and then you'll surely be much happier.
Hey, you could even delete all postings crossposted to
alt.privacy.anon-server, this should induce virtually euphoric
happiness in you.
Just do it!
For all of us.

Don't post evidence to back up your claims or anything. Just go with
the FUD.

Who cares why someone posts through remailers. Maybe it's just for
fun. Did you never play with invisible ink or anything as a child?

Yes, looking at the author of a post certainly helps to decide whether or
not it contains anything useful. Like seeing the name Alan Connor as
the author of a post instantly helps the user know that the post
probably contains nothing of value.

And yet you feel you have to reply to every post you don't read,
telling them that you didn't read it. Kind of beats the point of
saving all that time by not reading the post, doesn't it?

Whatever turns you on.
I'm sure you'll waste more of your time by replying with another long
boring post informing everyone that you didn't read it. Oh well, I
guess it's good for you to have a hobby.

This "Alan Connor" is an idiot. He has been on this kick forever. He
believes in his government, that they can do the technicaly impossible,
because they are the Government!

We go ages without the words euphoric or euphoria being mentioned, and
then two posts come on the same day with that word. One anonymous, then
one later that's not. Zax you got outed!

Sorry, Little Boy. My newsreader is a Snivelling-Punk-Free-Zone.
Run along back to the kindergarden where they think you are a
master hacker.
I am not interested in what a coward like you thinks.
If you can even think.
Yes. I know who you really are: Another juvenile delinquent
with his mommy's computer. A troll.
Don't need to know anything else about you.

I don't want this to replace the normal followup method. Most of the
time I want to post followups the normal way, through my news
server. Sometimes I want to replywith mixmaster.
