My system admin and I have discovered an issue that may soon affect
many NEW users of FMS2. I just rented a new server after my previous
one suffered a meltdown, we rebuilt everything in 16hrs and lost
nothing in the process. However, we can't get FMS2 installed, the
installer always dies.
It would seem that the INSTALLER for FMS2 is hardcoded to detect
libstdc++.so.5 on RHE 4, however, after running up2date OUR library
was updated to libstdc++.so.6 and the installer chokes and DIES then
spits out a message saying the Dual P4 system with RHE 4 I'm trying
to run the installer on is not a supported platform.
Since I don't have a COMPILED version, I can't say for certain that
those of you that have FMS2 already installed will see it simply die
after getting this new library (libstdc++.so.6) during an update. If
anyone would like to send me a tar'd and zipped installation (without
serial) then please do so, I really need to give a demo this week
with the developer version.
I sent an email to Adobe and I'm waiting to see if this is user error
on my end or an oversight in the installer only.
While I may be completely wrong about this, I still feel I need to
say something to you guys because we've tested this more than a few
dozen times with zero success.
Here is the error:
--------------------------------------------
[root@phoenix FMS_2_0_1_r27_linux]# ./installFMS
./fmsini: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
ERROR: Your are running the Macromedia Flash Media Server installer
on the wrong platform.
--------------------------------------------
... this error happens on BOTH the FMS2 installer AND the FMS2
Updater installer.
