To add to what Stefan said, look for something called "Web Content
Management" in SharePoint Server 2007. That can be consider the next version
of MCMS. If you're interested in learning more about WCM, I'm doing an MSDN
webcast on April 18 covering the evolution of CMS -> WCM:
The Evolution of Web Content Management in the 2007 Version of Microsoft
Office (April 18, 2006; 9am PST):
The Web Content Management (WCM) technology in the upcoming 2007 version of
Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server represents the first major release
of Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) since 2002. This webcast looks
at the major improvements WCM offers over MCMS. We discuss major design
changes such as the Windows SharePoint Services-based architecture and the
altered underlying storage model. Learn about new WCM concepts such as
content types, field controls, workflows, and recycle bins. The presentation
concludes with a look at what is involved in migrating your MCMS 2002 site t
o
the WCM in Office SharePoint Portal Server 2007.
