I'm working on a kiosk where the client wants to have 2 live cameras
fed into one computer, and the user can choose which stream to show..

the cameras are real production tv cameras.. the set emulates a tv news stu=
dio..

I think what I need to do is get a couple of really good capture cards
that flash can recognize as a driver for the camera.. I have done this
with a tv tuner card but wondering if there is anything better u can
suggest?

Try using an Osprey card with a direct video-in (RCA) type jack - these
install internally into the PC
(http://www.viewcast.com/products/osprey.html) - I don't sell for them!

There are different models/specs that you can choose from. We have used
these before and they work pretty good. Alternatively, you could get a
usb-to-RCA video jack converter cable. They work pretty well too. Don't use
firewire.

Just yesterday I hooked up our new Osprey DV 500 capture card to my
local machine with a Sony Handycam and tested it via FMS.  It worked great.

I have found firewire less effective than USB or direct-in video. USB 2 is
faster than firewire and I read this thing comparing the two awhile back -
USB 2 is better for varied data rates over time, while firewire is better
suited for consistent data rates.
